IMARHANLa scène de la Plage
Imarhan, an Algerian group of Tuareg origin, boasts a new sound straight out of the desert. Created by the founder of Tinariwen, the group brought out an album called Temet that made a big impression in 2016. Temet represents a big step forward for the group in terms of production. If their original sound was deeply rooted in the tradition of meditative desert blues, Temet goes further, taking inspiration from funk, disco, and rock. “Temet” means “connections” in Tamasheq – it’s a call to rally, to tell people that we are all connected, and that only through acceptance and assimilation of this connection will we be able to find solutions to the challenges that all cultures face today. Committed and nomadic, this group hopes to see their music and their message play around the world.
