Maalem Hossam GUINEAScène Moulay Hassan
He was given the guembri in 2016 from the hands of his father, the late master Mahmoud Gania, and saw the great maâlems and established artists flock to his family home. Open to the rhythms of the world all the while maintaining a perfect mastery of Gnaoui traditions, Hossam owes his impeccable technique not only to his talent, but also to the tenacity and rigour with which he plays. In 2012, he accompanied his father to Belgium, and the adventure began. From 2014, when he created his own Essaouira-based group, he began to tour around Morocco, and on to England and the Netherlands. In 2016, in addition to the concert-tribute to his father by Doudou N’diaye Rose, Hossam Gania hit the Mawazine stage for a fusion with Omar Sosa and Mehdi Nassouli.
