Shabaka Hutchings

Scène Moulay Hassan

United Kingdom
At 34, this London-based saxophonist, of Caribbean origin, is already a legend in his field. Long known for eschewing jazz codes to create a music of the future within the group Sons of Kemet, he now returns enthusiastically to the past to explore the repertoire of old masters. In South Africa in particular, where he recorded a magnificent album surrounded by the great musicians of the continent. Group leader, talented composer, and distinguished musician, he belongs to the beautiful emerging British jazz scene.
